For only $18.00 you can provide nutritious school lunches for a Ugandan child for a year.

As in many third world countries education of the children is the key to a brighter future for Ugandans. The Ugandan Government has pledged support for universal publically funded primary education. They have set a funding goal of $3.00 per child per year - to date funding has been provided only $1.00. This has left the country to rely on private schools that are supported by parents and external donors.

The Jolly Nyeko Foundation Canada - JNFC (Canadian Registered Charity 83181 1096) supports Action For Children - ACF, an indigenous Ugandan non profit. AFC has built and operates a school in rural Uganda at Masalutiia, about one hour from Kampala. The school currently has about 270 students from pre-school to Grade 7.

This campaign will fund lunches at the school every day for all of the students. The school has provided a lunch program for a number of years. The food is purchased by the schools , and prepared and served to the students by volunteers from the community. The basic menu is rice and beans or rice and millet. On special occasions meat is added.
For many of the children this meal is their only daily meal.

We are seeking your support to fund this program for 12 months. The total cost will be about $5,000 CDN ($18. 00 per student)
to cover the food and improved cooking utensils and facilities. If we can fund this it will allow the existing funding to be redirected to purchase additional classroom and school needs.

Please be generous in your support.
